As per the latest information from ToI, the parents of Anne Clouet would be visiting Udaipur and would be registering a protest in front of the SP office. The parents say, “There are many questions unanswered about the incident, to which we are looking for answers”.
UT took the initiative to ask police authorities about the loopholes pointed out by the parents of the deceased and talked to the Superintendent of Police for the same.
The Case is as follows:
Anne Clouet and Annelise Archen, during their Udaipur trip had stayed in Hotel Nai Haveli, Jagdish Chowk, Udaipur. Meanwhile, they become friends with Dhruv Sharma, resident of Bhatiyani Chohatta and Ali Hussain, resident of Mulla Talai.
On 6th March, 2010, Anne Clouet was brought to hospital by Dhruv, Ali and Annelise Archen; where the officials declared Anne as ‘brought dead’. There were injury marks reported on her head and neck.
Police suspects that the possible cause of death was drug overdose as cigarettes with smack content was recovered from the hotel room. Later, the postmortem report confirmed the same. Dhruv, who had criminal cases against him, was then taken into custody as he was suspected to accompany Anne and Annelise to Pushkar. Police further suspected that they would have brought drugs from Pushkar.
UT’s conversation with SP:
Alok Vashisth, SP said, “We completed the investigation after the rigorous inquiry. The prime suspect of the case, Dhruv Sharma was brought under judicial custody and charged with cases of homicide and drug possession. He is right now out on bail for which he pleaded in the High Court. We covered every aspect of the case and even went ahead with the moral responsibilities to solve it”.
He added, “Dhruv Sharma was also charged with Rape as Police believes that the physical contact between Anne Clouet and Dhruv Sharma was made when Anne was under the influence of drugs”.
On asking about the missing body parts during postmortem, he replied, “According to the law, during a postmortem, parts of the body are usually taken out for chemical tests and reports. Those parts are still kept preserved at M.B. Hospital. If the parents ask for the same, then we can provide them a full detailed report, along with details of the body parts”.
He added, “The team of doctors who carried out the postmortem consists of Dr. Anupam Johri, Dr. Sushila, Dr. Shakti Suhalani, Dr. M.L. Tant and Dr. Neelima. All of them are of M.B Hospital, Udaipur. Usually there are two doctors involved in any postmortem, but considering the sensitivity of the case, we deployed five doctors for this case”.
“The statement of the parents was recorded in the presence of Tejraj Singh, Additional SP and Dayanand Saaran, Deputy West Zone. Both of them are senior Police authority. The statement was even taken in three segments respectively by Police Station In-charge, Additional SP and by Deputy West Zone so that leaves no gap of misunderstanding”. He was answering on the question of partial jotting of statements by the Police.
As we asked about the involvement of Ali Hussain, he replied, “We investigated the case and we didn’t found Ali Hussain guilty. The prime accused was Dhruv Sharma who was sent behind bars for the same”.
“We can provide the detailed report on the case and whatever the parents ask for. We investigated the case, considering every possible angle and even went further on moral grounds”.
