Group Fitness: Growing Trend among Udaipurites

To Join a Group fitness class is the latest Trend for Fitness among Udaipurites. Group fitness classes are great for you in a number of ways.

They’re generally anywhere between 45-60 minutes (which forces you to work out for a longer period of time), they keep you motivated and serve as a way for you to be social and make new friends who are also interested in staying fit.

You can choose any one of your taste from the numerous options available:

  • Cardio Challenge: A mix of low impact and basic step aerobics designed to get your heart rate up and challenge your muscles.
  • Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu: A self-defense martial art focusing on ground fighting and gaining dominance over your opponent.
  • Fitness Training Camps: Designed for beginners to intermediate athletes, it involves 30-minutes of vigorous aerobic exercise followed by 20 minutes of strength training.
  • Body Sculpting: Focuses on endurance and strength training using free weights or resistance bands.
  • Power Yoga: Focuses on strength and flexibility at the same time through a flow of yoga poses and a great way to get into shape.
  • Core Conditioning: Focuses on working the lower body and core muscles to prepare and strengthen the abdominals and lower back, improving posture.
  • Indoor Group Cycling: Provides cardio workout good for all fitness levels and ages by manipulating pedaling speed and resistance.
  • Pilates: Focuses on building endurance and strength in the core muscles, rebalancing the body.
  • Thai Kickboxing: This includes blocking, punching and defense movements, as well as shadowboxing and pad striking.
  • Strength Conditioning: Intense training designed to define major muscle groups.
  • Meditation: Focuses on postures and breathing to open energy channels in the body and activating the flow of chi in the body.
  • Premiere Hatha Yoga: This focuses on creating well being through gentle breathing, relaxation and posture.
  • Zumba: Invented by a Colombian trainer named Beto Perez, this class focuses on the use of interval training. It is a fast paced, high-energy class performed to Latin music.

Group fitness classes can also affect your eating habits in a healthy way. Here’s how group fitness classes help you maintain your diet and healthy weight.

Classes Are a Source of Constant Reinforcement

Sometimes all we need is a little bit of motivation and positive reinforcement to stay on track with any goal. Being in a group fitness class with people who have the same fitness ambitions helps you see that you’re not making sacrifices on your own. Everyone else in the room is taking time out of their day and working hard throughout the class–and probably watching what they eat as well. Not only that, you have an instructor at the front of the room who motivates you. Being reminded of all the calories you’re burning and the good you’re doing for your body by the person leading the class is excellent motivation to maintain your diet.

Classes Keep You Focused

Group fitness classes are generally non-competitive, friendly places. Go to one and you’ll see that most everyone is in the room for the same reason–to stay in shape or to get in shape. It’s easy to build friendships with people if they regularly take the same classes as you do. It’s also beneficial to maintaining your diet. While classes aren’t competitive, seeing the progress that the people around you are making is enough to keep you focused on being just as disciplined in your diet and exercise as they are–if not more so. Knowing that that gal next to you isn’t swinging through the drive through for a milkshake after an intense kickboxing class will keep you from doing so, too. Even more, if you see someone who looks great in your class, it’s easy to ask him or her for some tips and advice on meals, snacks and overall workout regimens.

Motivation

Taking part in a group fitness class is a good motivator if you need that extra kick to get started. By belonging to a group, you know that everyone else is striving toward the same goal and pushing to be their best. In addition, belonging to a group allows you to make new friends, who depend on you being there for their support, which gives you another reason for going. This form of fitness has changed a lot, so if you have never tried it or if it’s been a long time since you have joined a group fitness class, give it another chance. You might be surprised !
