Imagination is its Own form of Courage
The flight of thoughts beyond the ordinary is imagination. To harness the power of imagination is in itself an immense task. I assure you dear reader, by the time you’re done with this read; you will get a taste of this power
The flight of thoughts beyond the ordinary is imagination. To harness the power of imagination is in itself an immense task. I assure you dear reader, by the time you’re done with this read; you will get a taste of this power.
Now, for a few seconds, walk this path with me. Close your eyes and imagine. Imagine the best version of yourself. Imagine you have everything you have ever wanted. You are everything you ever wanted to be. Imagine yourself hand in hand with that one person you see yourself with or rather want to see yourself with. Imagine the two of you, having achieved everything you ever wanted to achieve.
Take in the scene. Relish it while it lasts. Close your eyes…
If at all possible, write down what you imagined. To encourage an honest description out of you, I’ll give you a brief picture of what I saw. I imagined myself as a bestseller author; my physical appearance – a highly improved version. I saw myself with a guy standing next to me, arms linked with mine. For some reason, cameras were flashing around us. Above all, I was happy.
Do note that even in my imagination, I could only create things that were physically possible, if not probable. What does that tell you about me? That even in my imagination, I lack courage. Even in my mind, I cannot create a world that is impossible. I lack courage to imagine and if you’re being honest with yourself, so do you.
The fabric of reality is so profoundly embedded in our brains that we lack the audacity to imagine the impossible. Our brain is encaged with possibilities. The brain requires to liberate itself by stepping out of the cage of finite possibilities into the vastness of infinite impossibilities. In order to achieve this feat, I ask you once again, to imagine.
Imagine your brain in a cage. Watch the cage fall apart. The brain gracefully floats outside. Now picture the cage wither away into nothingness. The only thing that remains is a brain floating in the middle of no-where.
Register the moment. Close your eyes.
You are now close to having a liberated brain. Applying such a brain is what they call thinking out of the box. To help you realise the same, I ask you to imagine.
Imagine yourself in a meadow. Feel the soft, green grass beneath your feet. As far as the gaze can travel, in every direction, this is all you see. This is all you feel. An elating breeze is caressing your hair. With no obstacles in your path, you are gliding wild and free in the endless fields.
Now close your eyes… Inhale the feeling… Exhale it slowly.
If you could imagine the endless hurdle-free field, your brain has broken a boundary of limits. You have imagined and felt the impossible ‘eternity of elation’.
Good for you.
Now one last time, I ask you to imagine. This time, attempt to cross more boundaries. You will feel that leash tied to your ankle, binding you to the rock of possibilities. You’re suspended in the atmosphere but that leash is stronger than ever. Do me a favour. Reach out to your pocket, pull out a pair of scissors from it and cut the leash.
You have been separated from the fabric of reality and possibilities.
Now, imagine the best impossible version of yourself. You have everything no one can ever have. You are where no one can ever go. You are everything no one can ever be. Imagine all the colours. Imagine, feel and harness the infinite vastness of the world you have created.
Close your eyes and capture the scene…
If possible, write it down…
What you just imagined was abstruse, to say the least. All the same, believe me; it is valuable in more ways than we can comprehend. Believe it or not, your brain is more accepting and creative than before.
To keep this creativity pulsing through, lend courage and feed energy into your thoughts. Think more. Analyse more. Shattering glass ceilings, smashing down walls and breaking through chains is all part of the process.
