Adaptable , Considerate , Courageous , Ambitious , Amiable ,Diligent …well it looks as if we are discussing adjectives and grammar of how to define someone.

Well, all these adjectives and many more which are there in Oxford Dictionary would fall short if I have to describe Ruksi …oops Dr. Rukhsana Saifee, The Author.

I have known her for three decades, since I was in 7th grade.  In times when we were still struggling to read one full Chacha Chowdhary and Billu comics , she used to subscribe to Reader’s Digest.  We used to shy away from her because her spoken English was light years ahead compared to us guys, though we were studying in a reputed convent school in those times.

Indeed, she was our first female friend who used to invite us home.  We used to call her dining table as Round Table Conference; her mom used to always serve nice coffee or tea while we were there.  She used to discuss topics, which we had never heard of. It became regular for us to sit across the “Round Table Conference“.  Ruksi advised me to read English newspapers if I wanted to improve my English and learn how to speak.

Time flew by and as we grew older we secured degrees in our respective disciplines.  In an era when everyone was flying West, Ruksi’s destiny took her to the base of Mt. Abu, Abu Road.  We lost contact until one day, with advent of mobile technology we again came in touch.  This was when she shared articles she wrote for the English edition of Times of India.

I remember correctly that the article she wrote for the Times was on local tribe “Garasiyas“.  Once, long back, I visited her at Abu Road and learnt what all she was doing in life – I was awestruck that she is writing, teaching as Professor, pursuing her doctorate…wow!

Perception is that dreams can be achieved only while working in bigger places and cities, but that’s not true.  Settled in a small town with not much exposure to the limelight, she was preparing for bigger thing in life. She is a motivator. A positive person who can infuse energy into someone who really wants to excel in life .

So, here we are today – she is a published author.  Her book is already on the stands.  I know this is just a start, however I believe a series of ISBN numbers should be allotted to her in advance.

I am proud that I call her my friend , a mentor and well-wisher.  So far I have always read books written by authors whom I don’t know personally.  Reading “Personality Management & Communication“ is going to be special.
