The splendor and beauty quotient of a city is an outcome of the combined effect that is given to this quotient by the city’s environment, its lakes, the mountains, hills and the greenery.
Udaipur, the City of Lakes is inundated with all this natural beauty and this is the main reason behind its recognition as one of Asia’s most beautiful cities, something that makes you, me and all natives of Udaipur gratified.
This gratification could be temporary though, if go by the infrastructural developments in the city that have been going on over the latter part of this decade.
Infrastructural development is a natural reaction to a city’s economic growth and this relationship is pretty much visible in Udaipur.
The worrying part here is that the infrastructure development is biased towards new residential colonies, high rise towers and industrial areas. Are we not forgetting that the premise on which Udaipur is growing, its tourist attraction quotient, needs to be given due importance. Do we see significant or even mere proportionate development in the beauty aspects of the City of Lakes?
How much importance is the administration or the common man, the average resident of the city giving to making the city more beautiful?
Planting more trees, making our colonies roads more beautiful, taking care of the lakes and greenery around us, are some of the initiatives that we as residents can do to make the city more beautiful and the environment sustainable.
