Don't fall for offers of buying and selling of old currency notes and coins, cautions RBI

The Reserve Bank of India said that some fraudsters are using the logo of RBI.

Some fraudsters are seeking charges, and commission or taxes from the public in online transactions of buying and selling old bank notes and coins.

RBI has  not authorised any institution/ firm/ person etc. to collect charges/ commission on its behalf in such transactions.

The Reserve Bank of India has cautioned the public against fraudsters. RBI said that people must not fall prey to fraudsters offering buying or selling of old bank notes and coins.

RBI also added that some certain elements are using the name of logo of RBI and seeking charges, commission and tax from public in transactions related to buying and selling of old bank notes and coins through various platforms, both offline and online.

The statement issued by bank said, “It is clarified that Reserve Bank of India does not deal in such matters and never seeks charges/commissions of any sort. The Reserve Bank of India has also not authorised any institution/firm/person etc to collect charges/commission on its behalf in such transactions.”

Public is being cautioned not to fall prey to anyone using RBI’s name to extract money through such fraudulent and fictitious offers.
