On the occasion of World Heart Day, that falls on September 30th,  GBH American Hospital is organizing a run/walk event under their campaign ‘Udaipur, Run for Heart’.

With the event, scheduled from 7a.m – 8a.m on Sunday on a proposed route from Fateh Sagar Paal (Dewali end) to Moti Magri Gate, the Hospital intends to create awareness about prevention of heart diseases and promotion of health lifestyles.

In the few decades, India has emerged as the world capital for heart diseases, hypertension and diabetes. By the end of 2012, 46.9 million Indians will bear 60% of world’s heart disease burden (WHO & National Commission for Macroeconomics & Health 2005). Unhealthy diet, reluctance to exercise, deskbound jobs and stress of modern urban living are affecting our hearts badly.

With this initiative of GBH American Hospital for the prevention of heart disease and with the active participation of citizens, the Hospital wishes to make 2012 the year of CVD (Cardio Vascular Disease) prevention among women and children.

The Hospital urges citizens of Udaipur to actively participate in the event and make it a grand success. The event is scheduled to begin at 7a.m on Sunday, i.e. 30th of September from Fateh Sagar Paal (Devali end).
