On the opening day of the first Mother Milk Bank of Rajasthan, two mothers came up to join hands for the noble cause.

Established by Mahesh Ashram, Divya Mother Milk Bank was officially inaugurated by State Health Minister yesterday. The initiative is with the sole motto of ‘No infant go to bed without Mother’s Milk’.

Two mothers, named Kushboo Raachi and Manisha Vaid came forward as the first donors for the deprived infants, where each contributed 40 ml. of milk to the bank after a normal blood test.

According to Khushboo, an infant receives best nutrition in the very early age, apart from which the noble act also assist in good health of mothers; she considers donating milk as among the noblest charity.

Khushboo is a mother and have crossed 6 months of her post pregnancy, her search for such a service concluded by donating milk at Divya Milk Bank. She called this possible due to support from her family specially her in-laws.

While, Manisha also a mother gave birth to a girl child 5 months back. She received information about Divya Mother Milk Bank from local newspapers and news channels; her concern for abandoned infants landed her in the Milk Bank.

Divya Mother Milk Bank Receives First Donors

In the words of Manisha, “I wanted to donate milk, but was afraid with the reaction of in-laws; however, I gained confidence when my mother-in-law agreed to my views.”

According to Archana Shaktawat, coordinator of Divya Mother Milk Bank an infant requires 2 ml. of mother’s milk in every 2 hours, putting a requirement of 24 ml. milk per day, while each milk bottle of Divya Milk Bank would be of 30 ml.

Archana added that, in NICU Ward of MB Hospital, currently 3 litres of milk is bought from other sources, which is far too less in its nutritional values resulting in malnutrition of infant. Initially with the help of our donors, we will provide mother’s milk to those NICU infants free of cost.

Archana further added that if someone other than NICU infants wishes to have milk, then the applicant has to come up with prescription of her respective doctor.
