Over 35000 Suggestion Forms Collected for Udaipur Smart City Initiative

How Far will this go – Citizens Participate in Udaipur Smart City Initiative

Excitement of Udaipur being selected for the Smart City Projects continues, with the administration setting up booths at various locations, asking residents to fill up a simple form where they need to prioritize areas that they suppose are important for the Udaipur Smart City Road Map.

Over 200 Booths were setup at 55 wards across the city, including public areas viz. Chetak Circle and more importantly Fatehsagar Paal (by the Bharat VIkas Parishad), were put up, which saw a tremendous participation by the visitors.

As per Mayor Chandra Singh Kothari, the administration expects 80-90 thousand suggestions forms be filled up, and till 9pm yesterday evening approximately 33,000 filled forms had been received, which was seen to be encouraging.  Udaipur has a 500,000 strong population.

A few proactive Ward Representatives (Corporators) across the city were seen going from house to house in their area and motivating people to fill up maximum forms.  A few residents also participated in a one-on-one discussion with Bhagwan Kharol, Corporator at Kharol Colony, when he went to collect the filled up forms.  Over 500 forms had been personally distributed by Bhagwan Kharol among the residents of his wards.

The Suggestion form, which seemed to have been tabulated in a hurry, had areas such as Sewerage, Solid Waste Management, Power Supply, Education and Health, Citizen Participation, Information and Communication, etc mentioned, which were supposed to be prioritized to the top 5 as per each signatory.  A quick scan of filled forms suggested that most residents had prioritized safety, sewerage, cleanliness among the top requirements that needed to be met in taking Udaipur to the level of Smart City.

We have also replicated the Physical Form and request our readers to fill up the form in all honesty so that we can also add value to the entries received physically.  We will share the results on 30th September.
