The Mahila Atyachar Virodhi Manch, one of the non-government bodies and various other organizations working against ill-treatment of women laid mass protest today against the increasing violence on women.

The Mahila Atyachar Virodhi Manch, one of the non-government bodies and various other organizations working against ill-treatment of women laid mass protest today against the increasing violence on women.

The group comprising of both men and women marched from Town Hall to the Divisional Commissioner’s office and highlighted the incident of violence on a woman accused for extramarital affair in Sarada few months back.

The accused woman was allegedly beaten, abused and undressed publically in Kolar Village near Sarada on July 22, 2012. ( news here)

According to Sudha Chaudhary, State Secretary, Akhil Bhartiya Pragatisheel Mahila Association, “We have put up certain demands like: Prakash (the alleged boyfriend of woman), who is missing since he was released should be found out, the victim woman and her boyfriend should be rehabilitated and the two culprits who are still moving free should be arrested.”

“We also demand to remove Mamta Sharma, President, Rashtriya Mahila Aayog, as she has an irresponsible attitude towards the Kolar incident. She was just sitting in the circuit house when she was in Udaipur to investigate the incident on behalf of National Woman Commission. She did not even go to the village and gave a statement that, “Should I have talked to the trees If I went to the village”, added Chaudhary.
