Soaring heat across the city has left Udaipurities with no other option but to pay huge bills for running air cooling devices round the clock. While the heat waves have made it difficult for the children to enjoy outdoor activities during their vacations, it has even worsened the situation for people travelling to and back from their offices. Men, women, girls and boys, all can be seen covering themselves from tip to toe for prevention from heat stroke. White and light colored clothes have been popular these days among the citizens. Nowadays, doctors are seen treating massive number of patients affected by the extreme temperatures. They have been suggesting timely consumption of water and insisting on spending hottest hours of the day indoor as far as possible. Kulfi, ice-candy, lassi and fruit juice stalls at public places like Fatehsagar and Sukhadia Circle have gathered the attention of both the localities and the tourists.”There has been a hike of 50% in my business during the summers,” says a local fruit juice stall owner. People are finding it difficult to get reservations in AC coaches during these vacations and tend to cancel their trips if their reservation is in a non-AC coach since the heat is simply unbearable. Reservation with buses and airways has also been a challenge. Massive appeals have been made to the citizens to keep a pot full of water in their gardens and balconies so that speechless creatures like birds can quench their thirst!
