A woman displayed exemplary courage when she refused to let go off the chain snatchers. The incident occurred in Rajsamand.
It was broad daylight on Monday near old bus stand in Rajsamand when 2 young men tried to snatch a gold chain and mangalsutra from a woman’s neck. Urmila (55) w/o Roshan Lal Jain reached Rajsamand from Mumbai on Monday morning. She went to visit her family members in Dhoinda from where she left for market with a relative on scooty. Urmila got down from the scooty in the market and started walking towards bus stand.
2 men on a pulsar bike gave her a kick as a result of which Urmila fell down. At the same time one of the men grabbed Urmila’s gold chain and mangalsutra. This man was trying to pull the jewellery from Urmila’s neck when she caught hold of his hand. This was enough to make the bikers fall to the ground. One of the 2 men managed to escape after the fall. The other one couldn’t run as Urmila was holding his hand. She also bit on the man’s hand. By the time, people gathered on the spot. Traffic police also reached and arrested the man. The only point was that the lady’s jewellery got lost in the process. Her money bag containing 3000 rupees also fell and could not be traced.
Police from Mukharjee Crossing also reached and registered a case against Hemant s/o Ghanshyamdas who was arrested. Search is on for the other culprit.
