The chain snatchers continue to spread terror in the city with two more cases registered today. A 4 gram Gold Chain was looted off a 25 year old lady at Hiran Magri Sector 14 today morning, while the other incident occurred at Bhupalpura, where an attempt at chain snatching failed as the victim was alert and cried for help.

In both the cases, the common characteristic of the snatcher that came to notice was that a well built, middle aged man wearing sunglass and riding a black color motorbike, probably a Bajaj Pulsar was behind these incidents.

According to sources, the first incident occurred with Sharda Panchal (in photo above), resident of B-block, Sector 14, Hiran Magri. Sharda was walking towards her cosmetic shop at 100 ft. road in the same area, when a man on a motorbike came from the front and snatched the gold chain off her neck.

“First he came from my back and went away then after a few minutes he returned from the front, came closer, snatched the chain and fled away”, said Sharda, who was accompanied with her 6 year old son, Abhay at the time of incident.

According to her son, he saw the number of the bike but did not recall the last 2 digits. As per his information, the number provided to the police was RJ27- SM-90….

 In the second incident which occurred at around 3:45 pm, the victim, Madhu Hinger (in photo above) was on the way to her residence at Dhanmandi. She was riding a Scooty and was also accompanied by her son Palash. While passing through Gattani Hospital, a man on a bike came from back and attempted to snatch the 2 tola Gold Chain from Madhu. However, the chain did not snap out immediately, and Madhu raised the alarm by crying out for help. The alarm probably frightened the snatcher and he fled away. This incident occurred near R.K Plaza, which has a CCTV camera installed. As per the sources, the suspect could not be traced through the footage. Following these two incidents today, and the many more that have been occurring over the past few days, the city police have initiated a massive manhunt by installing barricades at all major city centers, circles, public places etc. No positive result has come up as yet.
