A middle aged woman was stripped and beaten up by a group of women at Devla village in Udaipur district. The incident took place over an alleged extra marital affair. Four people have been arrested in the matter as per latest updates.

In a purporated video of the incident that has gone viral, the victim woman who is in her early 30s was stripped and brutally beaten up by a group of other women belonging to the same village.

The incident is belived to have taken place on 29 June but came to light on Saturday, 1 July after the video went viral on social media platforms. The team from Bekariya police station also rushed to the scene and SP Bhuwan Bhushan and District Collector Tarachand Meena also went to the scene to take stock of the situation.

District Collector Tarachand Meena said "An FIR has already been lodged and the accused will be arrested soon. I am here at the village meeting the victim woman and the accused will not be spared. Strict action will be taken and the accused will be punished strictly".

SP Bhuwan Bhushan said, "The incident took place on 29 June, where one widow who is aleged to have entered into an extra marital affair, was beaten up by the wife of the man with whom she was alleged to be having this relationship. The assumedly aggrieved wife of the man, along with a few other women from the same village stripped the victim and beat her up. The alleged affair is, however, not yet ascertained. The incident was also filmed on a mobile phone camera. An investigation has been launched immediately to look deeper into the matter and four people have been arrested".

The victim woman was staying alone at her house along with her 5 year old son after her husband died last year. She works at a sewing center and earns her livelihood. One woman from the same village had doubts that the victim is having an illicit affair with her husband and following this hunch, she along with other women went to the victim's house on 29 June. After reaching her home, they caught hold of her, cut her hair and stripped her and paraded her in the village infront of her minor son. The  child is seen trying  to stop the women from beating his mother, but they did not stop torturing her.
