In a shocking incident a young female lawyer was stabbed brutally on Wednesday morning inside the district and session court premises here. The victim who was stabbed six times, is told to be out of danger as her medical condition improved after hospitalization.

The assault was made by her estranged husband who fled from the spot but later was arrested by the police. Marital discord is told to be the reason behind the murder attempt as the accused  had been out on bail recently after he was arrested on a complaint made by his wife over car theft few days ago. Domestic violence and dowry demand complaints are pending between the couple.

The broad day light assault came as a big shock for the people who could not understand what was happening, however, as the women fell on the ground heavily bleeding, colleagues ran to her help. Meanwhile the bar association complained lack of security measures in the court, which has lead to three fatal attacks on person in the past too, members claimed.

A thirty year old lawyer was at the family court on Wednesday morning for a hearing in a case between her and husband Jitendra. She was married to him in 2009 but the couple had some issues since four years and had been since living separately.

While the victim lived in sector 13, her in-laws house was at Jawaharnagar and she had lodged a complaint last month against Jitendra and his father Shantilal for stealing car from her home. The police had arrested both father and son duo and Jitendra had come out on bail recently.

On Wednesday while the lady advocate was going towards the ladies washroom at around 11 am , Jitendra followed and stabbed her twice on her back. In an attempt to save herself, she sustained severe injuries on her hands and abdomen too.

Before people could realize what happened, she had collapsed and was immediately rushed to the MB hospital. “The lawyer was attacked by her husband who is now in our custody. He will be interrogated and produced before the court on Thursday” Madhuri Verma, the Deputy SP said.
