Assistant Professor (2007) of MPUT has been sentenced to 10 years of strict imprisonment. He was accused of molestation. Professor Sevda who was Assistant professor in 2007 in MPUT was accused of molestation by a lady constable. The lady constable had secretly written to SP on 18^th January 2007 that she was physically molested by the professor. She demanded justice and requested that the professor be punished for his deeds.

Presently Professor Sevda is serving in College of Agriculture Engineering Rani Pul, Gangtok. At the time of incident, he was Assistant Professor in Farm Machinery and Power Engineering Department in CTAE.

Court has sentenced Professor Sevda to 10 years of strict imprisonment and penalty of 50,000 rupees under Section 376 and 4 years of imprisonment and penalty of 10,000 rupees under Section 420. Cases were registered against the professor under section 376 and 420 as directed by SP.
