Many questions arise when one sees a young man riding motorbike on paal which is meant for walking. The unlawfulness of this activity that creates problems for people walking on the pal is further compounded when these bikers encourage people around them to do follow the feat.

This act raises question on the part of administration and their working strategy which depicts a clear difference between ‘orders’ and ‘actions’.

Since the last few months when the gate of fatehsagar’s paal area was completely closed for any vehicle, the common mass had become used to of this temporary no-vehicle-zone. But ever since the opening up of the gate, this illegal activity has become a common sight.

Being one of the most visited spot, Fateh Sagar also holds the dubious distinction of being the key place in Udaipur for rash driving, eve teasing, drunker behavior etc.

When approached, the traffic police superintendent Jagdish Narayan said that anybody driving over the paal is illegal, and there is a fine of Rs.100/- for the same.

The question is what will the administration do to stop this nuisance? Also, is just a Rs 100 fine sufficient? In September 2011, 3 of a family were injured because a motorcyclist while performing stunt on paal accidently fell over the road where a family of 3 including a child was passing by.

People often don’t dare to perform these stunts when the police is around but unfortunately, barring weekends, police patrolling is pretty minimal at fatehsagar, particularly paal & rani road.

Will it take another accident for the administration to stand-up at take notice?
