A Research Associate at the Bhupal Nobles' University physically attacked the Registrar of the University today morning. An FIR to the effect was lodged by the Registrar with the Bhupalpura Police Station today evening.

As per the FIR, the Registrar of BN University, Dr. Raghuveer Singh Chauhan alleged that a Research Associate at the Pratap Shodh Sansthan, by the name of Bhupendra Singh Rathore physically assaulted him today morning. As mentioned in the FIR, the accused Bhupendra Singh assaulted Dr Chauhan at 11:15am, when he was going for his daily prayers to the Hanuman Mandir located within the University premises. The accused pushed the 66 year old Registrar and physically assaulted him. As per the FIR, two employees of the University were also present near the place of the incident.

Dr Raghuveer Chauhan, in his interaction with UdaipurTimes said that Bhupendra Singh verbally abused him and warned him with serious repurcussions if the Registrar enquired about his whereabouts in the University. Dr Chauhan confirmed that due to complaints of irregularity being recieved by the Registrar from Pratap Shodh Sansthan where the accused was employed, he had met the Director of the Pratap Shodh Sansthan, Dr Mohabbat Singh Rathore a day ago. He wanted to understand the reasons for irregularity and verify the complaints himself.

Dr Chauhan further said that Bhupendra, while physically assaulting him, warned him not to enquire about his whereabouts. He held his hand, tore the Registrars shirt and pushed him against a pole, hurting him. Dr Chauhan managed to flee from the scene in his car. Once in office, Dr Chauhan wrote a message to the Chairman of the BN University Pradeep Kumar Singh, who directed the Vice Chancellor Jeevan Singh Rawat to take necessary action. The VC directed the Registrar himself to issue suspension orders for Bhupendra Singh Rathore. The suspension orders were issued in due course.

Earlier, as per Dr Chauhan, when he went to the Hanuman Temple, the guard who raises the barricade in the premises to let vehicles pass, was absent from his place of duty. This was the reason that Dr Chauhan parked the car far from the temple and walked all the way. When he reached the temple, he saw Bhupendra waiting for him and immediately assaulted him.

The Bhupalpura Police Station, looking into the nature of the complain, have registered a case under IPC Sections 341 and 323 - of physical assault and causing damage to the reputation of the post of the Registrar.  The police then assigned the case to a Head Constable and the police reached the said the location in the evening today for their inspection and investigation.
