Dams under Water Resource department were checked for safety by Dam Safety Panel-2 team on Tuesday. The team checked the strength of dams and also the various lake promenades.
Chairman of Dam Safety Review Panel-2, AK Bajaj, along with a few others visited Jaisamand Lake and Daya Dam of Salumber and inspected the dams by doing a safety check. Members of the Water Resource department gave details of all lakes to the team. The team also visited Som Kamla Amba dam at Dungarpur. On Wednesday, Banswara and Pratapgarh dam checking is on the agenda of the review team.
Based on the reports given by the team, Central Government will issue budget for the repair and maintenance of the dams. Engineers of Dam Safety team also visited the overflow section of Jaisamand. As per their report, the path in between 2 ends of Jaisamand gets obstructed at the time of overflow. They suggested the need of bridge for easy access. It was also suggested that Daya dam promenade must also be widened. Drainage gallery of Som Kamla dam was checked since drainage plays an important role in maintaining the strength of bigger dams.
