Jet Airways will start a direct flight from Aurangabad to Udaipur from March. The same flight will then go from Udaipur to Jodhpur after a short halt thus connecting Udaipur to both the places.
Auranabad-Udaipur-Jodhpur flight connection has come under the third phase of Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS), also known as UDAN.
This flight connectivity boasts of great tourism potential with Jodhpur, Udaipur and Aurangabad all hosting tourists for variety of reasons. The Ajanta Ellora caves at Aurangabad have been on a must do list of a large number of tourists. Also, Aurangabad being about 2-3 hrs from Shirdi also serves as a conduit for Shirdi visitors.
Flight connectivity with Jodhpur will also be restored after a long time. This connectivity was broken ever since Supreme airlines stopped their operation. This flight will help tourism in both Jodhpur and Udaipur.
Flights will be operated under Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) that provide for affordable flight charges. Mostly ATR flights are operated under this scheme and the flight charges are capped at Rs 2500.
