Women for Reform, a closely knit social group of like minded women, organised a health talk at the Bohra Youth Community Centre, located in Bohrawadi, on Jan 27. Dr Sangeeta Gupta of Aravali Hospital was the special guest as well as the key speaker at the event, which was attended by a large audience. Dr Rehana Banu was also present on the occasion.
Dr Gupta addressed a large gathering of mainly women and apprised them of the health issues facing the population at large, particularly youngsters. Her primary focus was on common health problems such as Anemia and Thyroid issues, which she said were often neglected but were the root cause of distress in life. She emphasised the need to keep these issues in mind in order to avoid deterioration of health later on in life.
Dr Gupta also maintained that regular check-ups were vital to ensure that the correct treatment is given at the right time. She answered audience complaints of doctors prescribing lab tests for all ailments by clarifying that tests were essential for 100% correct diagnosis despite 50% of diagnosis being arrived at from the history of the patient.
