In a freak incident today afternoon, a tempo carrying students from St. Mary’s Sr Sec school overturned after losing control at Sevashram Dorenagar. Quite a few students were injured as a result of the overturning.

As per media reports, the tempo was carrying more students than its capacity. After the tempo overturned, the passerby immediately rushed to the spot to help the kids.

The terrified school kids started crying and calling for their parents. The tempo driver meanwhile organised for another van and had the kids dropped to their respective places.

The kids this time were lucky to have escaped with non-serious injurious. However, this incident highlights the need for administration to take immediate and strict measures against overcrowding of school tempo/autorichshaws. School authorities also need to take up this challenge and ensure that no overcrowded or unsafe transport is used for pickup and drop of their students. Finally, parents need to own up on this and ensure their auto-driver undertakes all security provisions for safety of kids.
