Government to provide 50% fees in IITs & IIMs

The students studying at IIMs, IITs, NITs and expensive educational institutions will heave a sigh of relief after the state government’s step to provide 50% of the fees to the guardians whose yearly income is Rs. 5 Lacs or less.

The Higher Education Department has sent a proposal to Finance Department who have forward it to the Planning Department.

Under this scheme, the 50% fees will be provided to only those students who are native residents of Rajasthan. Also, the government will not discontinue the prior scholarships received by a student. Instead, the scholarship amount will reduce which will compensate the 50% fees.

At first the fees will be issued to students through a bank draft after which it will be provided through online transfer.

After the application, a student will be provided the fees in 2 months.

Following are the institutes where this scheme will prevail:

  • The annual course fees will be paid by the government.
  • IIT Jodhpur (B Tech)- Rs. 1.20 Lac to Rs. 60,000
  • IIM Udaipur (PG Diploma in Management)- Rs. 4 Lacs to Rs. 2 Lacs
  • MNIT Jaipur (B Tech)- Rs. 1.10 Lac to Rs. 55,000

Khaitan Polytechnic of Jaipur will be the nodal agency for the scheme. Its website will contain the application form. The students will have to download the form and submit in the institution. The concerned institute, after checking will send it to the nodal agency.

The nodal agency after scrutinizing the applications, will send them to the committee created under the presidency of Director of Technical Education Department. The committee will send the selected students name to the agency after which the fees will be released.
