Reports say that private colleges are charging exorbitant fees as there is no fixed rule from the government regarding courses conducted by these colleges. There are more than 1600 private colleges in Rajasthan and fee structure has not yet been checked by government.

Private colleges are charging too much, in facts lakhs of rupees as fees, yet no check has been laid on them. Dr. Sanadhya, Zonal Officer, Higher Education, Udaipur zone said that the department is not yet aware of any such situation. Private colleges are autonomous bodies but there cannot be gross difference in fee structure. Udaipur has 39 private colleges.

Colleges are deciding their own fee structures but no attention is being paid by the government over this issue. It is sad though that parents and guardians are fearful of their ward’s careers and not raising their voices against fee structure. College administration is wilfully increasing fees and parents are paying that amount without any complaint.
