Solar Plant, Gymnasium inaugurated at CTAE

A solar plant, gymnasium, student facility centre and additional hostel rooms were inaugurated today at The College of Technology and Engineering, Udaipur (CTAE). The facilities were inaugurated by Vice Chancellor, Prof. Umashankar Sharma.

D.N.Purohit, Financial Controller, informed that the solar power plant has been established at an estimated cost of Rs 80 Lakhs and will soon be functioning at its full capacity. Once fully operational, the solar power plant is estimated to save the institution around Rs 10 Lakhs per year. This translates into a payback period of around 8 years.

Prof N.S. Rathore, Dean, CTAE said that the solar plant has been set up with subsidy received from Rajasthan Govt. The college will receive a subsidy of 30% for the project. The solar plant has a capacity of 1 kilo watt and is expected to generate 1.6 Lakh units every year. The plant is expected to have a life of 25-30 years.

Prof Sharma congratulated the faculty members on the solar plant and said that the campus should aim at becoming self sufficient on the electricity front.

A gymnasium facility was also inaugurated on the occasion. Prof Sharma urged the students to take full advantage of the resources.

Prof Rathore informed that the student facility centre was also inaugurated and will provide students facility of Photo copying, computer typing, stationary and essential books. The facility will be open from 8 am to 8 pm. Students will hence no longer have to go out of campus for basic needs.

The new rooms in M.V. Hostel were also inaugurated. This enables admission of 150 students and allows expansion.
