Workshop on Climate Change and Agriculture held at MPUAT

Department of Agronomy, Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology kicked off the twelfth Biennial Workshop today. The event will include the workshop on the topic, ‘All India Coordinated Research Project on Agro-meteorology’ and also Annual Review Meeting of National Initiative on Climate Resilient Agriculture.

The event that started today at the conference hall of the Directorate of Extension Education at the Rajasthan College of Agriculture will continue till 11 October.

Dr. B. Venkatesh Virloo, Director, Central Research Institute for Dry-land Agriculture, Hyderabad, will lead the workshop coordinated by Dr. V. U. M. Rao, Project Coordinator, CRIDA, Hyderabad.

The major points to be discussed in the workshop are the trend and research on Monsoon, Temperature, Crop Modeling and also the relationship of crops and the climate.

“Climate change is a big issue these days so we are planning to provide Climate based agriculture advice to the farmers. Also, the farmers will be taught about how to use the rainwater in agriculture in order to harvest their crops. These will be some important discussions to be framed in the workshop”, said, Dr. Narayan Singh Solanki, Associate Professor, Department of Agronomy, MPUAT and Workshop Coordinator.
