The first formal music session of the Udaipur Music Circle (UMC) was organized at Banyan Roots, Panchwati today at 6pm.
Think of the music as a bond, which needs no glue of introduction – the same idiom was visible at the session. A group of around 30 music buffs gathered under one roof to ‘make some music’.
Before the jamming and instrumental mix, everyone introduced themselves followed by some group- exercises like music without instruments, day-to-day mundane sounds and Beat Mix.
Jayesh Mohta, Founder, Banyan Roots said, “This is just an initiative to gather the music buffs of the city under one roof without any price tag or age-limitation. We are here to learn and make music”.
“On my recent trip to Delhi, I was inspired by the every-Saturday meet of drummers of Delhi at Deer Park. Anybody could join them, without any obligation – but the majority was of drummers and beat-instrument players. So when I came back to Udaipur, I decided to do the same with no genre limitation”, says Harshul, Co-Founder, UMC.It is planned to keep similar session every Saturday from 6pm to 8pm.
Jayesh and Harshul were the ones who initiated this concept and Jayesh had more things in his mind as he said, “We also run Theatre workshop every Saturday & Sunday from 5pm to 7pm and would be bringing a play soon. But, as of now, due to the UMC schedule, we will change the timing of our practice”. Mahesh Nayak, Theatre Artist who has worked in Theatre from the past 35 years and was also an Assistant Director in two feature films, is also the member of the Theatre Workshop, leading the practice sessions.
