The lake city of Udaipur witnessed a memorable reunion last week when 80 Alumni of RNT Medical College 1966 entry batch assembled here along with their spouses to celebrate their Golden Jubilee of entry into this Medical college 50 years back.
It is was an emotion packed and sentimental reunion for old boys and girls in their late sixties- Grand Parents all-to have come from all over India and abroad including UK and USA to relive the days spent by them for five years on the campus and hostels of this hallowed institution established in 1961 at Udaipur.
The RNTAGORIANS 1966 as they called themselves by starting a new trend of “Batch Alumni” in RNT Medical College came together in January 2016 and resolved to celebrate 2016 as their Golden Jubilee year under the dynamic leadership of Veteran Brig ( Dr ) CP Joshi and his dedicated team of colleagues at Udaipur and Ahmadabad.
A networking drive was started immediately using social media sites like face book, whatsapp, google and yahoo groups. Full use of e-mailing, SMS and telephony was made to bring the group together scattered all over the world with target of reaching 155 old boys and girls. They biggest shock and surprise came when they gradually learned that 25 of their old colleagues had passed away !
The networking and constant interaction continued from January to May 2016 . Many conferences were held to discuss out the final format for Golden Jubilee events and final culmination in Grand Gala Golden Jubilee Celebrations in October 2016. An Association of Personnel was formed comprising of nine members under Chairmanship of Veteran Brigadier Joshi. Dr Khursheed A. Aazem took responsibility of Organising Secretary and Dr Tiriveni Bhandari as the Treasurer. A bank account was opened and separate Pan Card obtained to manage the finances. Aims and Objectives were laid down to formalize the Alumni 1966 as a tight knit organization managed as per conventions of a society. A web site “rntalumni1966.com” was also launched so as to facilitate the coordination and net working.
The tireless working of Dr KB Ameta at Ahmedabad saw the collection of photographs and Bio-Data of 110 colleagues. He started working on the Souvenir and a comprehensive memorable magazine took shape for release during GJ events.
The Udaipur Chapter Doctors worked tirelessly and a mega event was planned , coordinated and organized at Udaipur for three days. 80 Alumni with spouses all stayed at one place at Inder Residency Udaipur, Met and held a formal function at their alma mater – RNT Medical College Central Hall, paid homage to their departed collegues and honoured the surving teaches at Udaipur, namely, Dr and Mrs HK Bedi, Dr AS Gupta, Dr B Bhandari, Dr DS Rathore Dr BL Soni and others.
The The Alumni 1966 had a grand re union dinner together on 22nd Oct at Inder Residency, after a day long memorable outdoor picnic at Aram Bagh resort earlier during the day.
Hatim Ali from H&M Events managed and coordinated the entire event.
