It is quite disappointing that the most awaited fest has been deferred as the pandemic is once again on the rise and Section-144 is in place until 21st March.

Shilpgram fest deferred once again

-The Shilpgram fest was scheduled for 13th to 19th March and all arragements were done to make this fest happen.

-Ritu Vasant will take place from 15th to 17th March.

The most awaited fest in Shilpgram is not happening in March as the new guidelines in the wake of increasing covid cases demand that the fest be deferred for the safety of public. It may be noted that the fest was planned for 13th to 19th March and all arrangements were made but it is quite disappointing that corona is taking its toll on the masses once again and the arrival of the new strain demands that the fest be postponed.

Section-144 is also in place until 21st March as the new strain is far more infectious than what we have seen in the past one year. The other event “Ritu Vasant” has not been cancelled and it will take place from 15th to 17th March. Cultural programmes will be held under “Ritu Vasant” where 200 people will be allowed entry at one time.

It was being expected that the Shilpgram fest would prove to be of economical importance as it fetches income for a lot of industries. A variety of handicraft dealers, artists, food stalls, etc. find a source of income through this fest and the last fest that happened in 2019 fetched around 4 crore rupees. Disappointment has prevailed among all these people who were hoping to find a good market here.

Apart from this, the Shivratri mela has also been cancelled. This mela is held every year on the occasion of Shivratri in Eklingji and thousands of devotees walk to the temple from various parts of the district.
