Jagannath Rath Yatra will take place on the 4th of July. All preparations are on for this grand Rath Yatra wherein devotees enchant mantras as their heart and mind flows in devotion. A process of giving “Maha-Snaan” to Jagannath Swami will be performed in Jagdish Temple today. Mantra enchantment is done while providing grand bath with milk to Shri Jagannath Swami.

The temple at Sector 7 in Hiranmagri will also perform this “Maha-Snaan” ritual for Jagannath Swami.  This is followed by a 15-day rest period of Jagannath Swami after which the procession is carried out which goes around the entire city. The rest period consists of providing herbal medication as this form of Jagannath Swami is considered as human; hence health strengthening before the Rath Yatra is considered to be important. On 3rd July, ‘prakatya utsav’ or the emergence of the Lord after the healing process will take place. This will be followed by the Rath Yatra which covers a distance of almost 21 kilometres in the city. One yatra will start from Jagdish Temple and the other from Sector 7 in Hiranmagri.

A meeting will be held on 23rd June at 5:30 p.m. in Asind ki Haveli which will have the participation of representatives of various groups, organisations and social and religious organisations for discussions on the smooth operation of Shri Jagannath Rath Yatra.
