Punky Junk: Welcome to Cafe Nirvana

Fast bikes, ragged jeans, parties, pals and fun characterize the most blessed part of life i.e. Teenage, which we all have passed through or still enjoying it. Despite of its advantageous multi-liberties to ponder upon, there are drawbacks too which could affect the rest of the life like a never ending nightmare.

Generally, teenagers are rebellious by nature but being rebellious is not always bad, there are exceptions too who have constructive views and innovative ideas whirling in their unruly mind.

Similar is the story of three teenagers from Udaipur who dared to crack the traditional law of restaurants with their sense of one simple idea i.e. Freedom of Expression.

Punky Junk: Welcome to Cafe NirvanaCafé Nirvana is an initiative of 18 year old Saif Khan, Shael Hussain and Ifam Khan who made their way out from a party freaks to a team of professionals but in their own terms. They are motor bikes passionate and a die hard fan of legendary rock musician Kurt Cobain. Combination of music and bikes originated the inspiration of Café Nirvana which has a unique story.

There are no flashy lights, posh furniture or luxurious interiors in Café Nirvana nor do they have hundreds of multi cuisines in their menu card. But still it draws attention of large number of youth every day though it hasn’t even completed its 1st month since started.

Located on the way towards Sajjangarh, Café Nirvana is stretched in the wide area of 600 sq ft. The theme of café Nirvana is bottomed with Rock Music, Motor Bikes and Rajasthani culture.

Walls of café are decked out with bright colored graffiti messages revealing the untold expressions of a young mind, rock music and Kurt Cobain’s posters.

To give a contrasted fusion, the floor is spread with excusive Rajasthani linen bandhej and “chowki” table engraved with Minakari Art to attribute the royal heritage of Mewar.

The centre of attraction is an over sized hand crafted chopper standing in centre of the café demonstrating the masculinity and vigor. This 350cc motorbike is modification of Royal Enfield model 92, it is designed by Jaipur based designer Tabrez Khan. It has double tank, one radiator, chromed body, tier of cars and handmade chassis.

Café Nirvana serves snacks like Pizzas, Pastas, Noodles, Coffee, non-alcoholic cold beverages and flavored hookahs to their guests who are mostly teenagers and foreign tourists.

We were bored of hanging out and spending so much money in those same restaurants, their poor service never impressed us but we had no second choice. One day we were just sitting somewhere and an idea of Café Nirvana clicked out. “

At first it seemed impossible because we didn’t have experience and financial freedom but then our eyes struck on a junkyard of mine at Sajjan Garh road. Soon we decided to turn that junkyard into something we dreamed of; a place of our taste, in our way. Though, it took us months to clean up all the mess spread. Now that junkyard is turned into CaNirvana,” said Saif Khan.

There are lots of new restaurants coming everyday in Udaipur but either they are too costly to afford or too cheap to resist, there is a large young mass who want something of their type, we want eternal freedom which is called Moksha, that’s what Niravana means, said Shael Hussain.

When asked why they chose only Kurt Cobain, Saif said that “Kurt Cobain was a hero and will remain hero of millions but unfortunately there are less people in Udaipur who know him, we want to spread Curt’s name and that’s why we have displayed his posters on walls”.

About the bike’s idea, Ifam Khan said that “we all are bikers from heart, bikes are as important for us like oxygen to breathe. When we were done with decoration of café we felt that still there is something missing in it, it was a presence of a bike. I decided to stand my chopper inside the café”.

All the founders of Café Nirvana are very confident with their new start-up, “we started making money in just few days and there is still lot more to do.” said Shael.

Every day is a brand new day for this café, birthday parties, casual chit chat or a big bowl of cheese maggi there are many things to do while sitting under the shadow of muscular bike and painted walls.

When asked, “How café nirvana is going to ook in coming months?” Saif replied, “from interior to menu of the café, there are lots of things in pipeline. We are going to make it best of what we can, though our core focus will be on best service, freedom, bikes and music.”
