Good Morning Udaipur! if you’re still not awake then this large sum of
splash! coming out from the
POT (traditional term for a dive) by an unknown freestyle swimmer will wake you and freshen up your mind.
Before scrolling down, let me give you a slight hint of what you’re going to see below. Since years there is a common tradition we (some) udaipurites follow i.e. “SWIMMING”. And for this passion of swimming we don’t prefer tiny swimming pools of some clubs or hotels, but we need something more adventurous, big and deep. After all we have so many big-small lakes to dip inside. Although every lake of Udaipur is good for swimmers but Lake Fateh Sagar is the most favorite. Especially in summer, fateh sagar turned into a heaven for all freestyle divers, crazy jumpers, children and every passionate swimmer aged between 3 to 80 year old. Last summer of 2010 was very disappointing because of no water in lakes. But mercy of God prevailed this year and gave us many reasons to fly and walk over lakes. Coming back to the topic again, swimming is religiously observed by many communities of Udaipur comprising of both Hindus and Muslims. The concrete shade on fatehsagar paal is called as “chatri” and all chatris are packed with their swimming devotees from early morning till 9am. Though, swimming, bathing and cleaning clothes are prohibited in lakes but today we will skip this debate for some other day and enjoy the clicks by Sayeed Ahmed. There is nothing to shy. Promise.
Hope you are ready to take this chance, sorry this not for people suffering from “hygenophobia”. I don’t know if such term really exist. Have a great day!
