On Tuesday, December 19,2023, the country recorded 288 new cases of coronavirus infection, bringing the total active cases to 1,970. Kerala reported 115 new cases. Sudhansh Pant, the Secretary of the Central Ministry of Health, has written a letter to all states and Union Territories, emphasizing the need for well-organized arrangements in hospitals and laboratories to effectively manage any crisis. Recently, JN.1 Coronavirus variant cases recorded 21 in India.

Governments in Rajasthan, West Bengal, Telangana and Karnataka have issued alerts in response to the increasing cases. As Christmas and New Year approach, doctors in Delhi are advising people to wear masks and avoid crowds to curb the spread of the virus.

In response to the new variant of the coronavirus, the government of Andhra Pradesh is gearing up to activate all RT-PCR labs in the state. They have set a daily testing target of 1,000 tests to monitor and control the situation effectively.

The government of Madhya Pradesh has implemented the COVID-19 guidelines issued by the central government. Notably, Karnataka has reinstated the mandate for masks for individuals aged 60 and above, as well as those with pre-existing conditions. Experts recommend that individuals with weak immune systems take precautions to prevent infections. People with serious health conditions such as heart, lung and kidney diseases are advised to remain vigilant.

In both scenarios, there is no immediate risk of life-threatening symptoms emerging. This implies that the reimplementation of measures, such as wearing masks, will not lead to the onset of severe symptoms of the disease.
