The much awaited Indoor Stadium work in Khelgaon has started taking shape. Sports Minister Gajendra Singh Kheenvsar said that there are a number of talented players available in the tribal areas. State government is making all possible efforts to bring out the talent from these tribal areas in open. Steps are being taken to provide all necessary facilities in the area of sports. Kheenvsar was addressing the people present in Khelgaon who had gathered on the occasion of commencement of construction of Indoor stadium.
Kheenvsar said that children are moving away from outdoor games and sports. Computer games and social media are keeping the children involved indoors. For the physical fitness which adds to mental fitness it is very important that children are pulled away from virtual world into real world of games and sports. For this purpose, sports facilities should be improved. He also said that sports play an important role in creating national unity.
Option of choosing sports facilities
Kheenvsar said that four models have been put forth for the development of sports in the city. First-Government should develop more sports facilities. Second- facilities developed by government should be privatised. Third- Government should provide land and private companies should develop it and then hand back over to government for further progress. Fourth-private companies should develop the land provided by government and coordinate on the formula of ‘pay and use’. Kheenvsar also said that any proposal coming in for the development of sports facilities in Maharana Pratap Khelgaon will be approved with immediate effect.
Urban Development Minister Srichand Kriplani said that Khelgaon will get full support from his department towards the development of Cricket stadium. He expressed his desire for Cricket matches on international level in Khelgaon.
Indoor stadium will be completely air-conditioned on an area of 300 by 200 feet. The proposed estimate for Khelgaon is 23 crore rupees. 14 crores have been provided by State government and the balance has been pooled in by Central government under a special scheme. The stadium having a capacity of 5000 audience will be completed within the next 15 months. The biggest gift of this Indoor stadium to sports lovers is the Hockey Astro Turf with an estimate of 5 and half crore rupees.
