Garlic is as essential in any kitchen as onion. It has proved good for health especially for the heart and cholesterol issues. It also combats common cold. But the same garlic is now bringing tears to eyes what is usually done by onions.

The price of garlic has gone high where onion prices have fallen. Since there has been less produce in Madhya Pradesh, the crop has jumped on the price chart. After a period of 3 years, garlic prices have caused trouble to the kitchen. It has gone upto 100 rupees a kg and is likely to exceed this 100 mark. As per the vendors in Savina sabji mandi, the supply of garlic packs has gone as low as 400 or 500 where it used to be 1000 packs a day. The next month probably will have a bigger price tag and give more of heart troubles instead of reducing. One big reason is that the garlic producing farmers from Malwa (Madhya Pradesh) have almost withdrawn from the produce. They are not interested in sowing garlic as the price offered to them does not suffice their hard work.
