The immersion tank constructed at the premises of Ambapol Sewerage Pump House looks like a formality for the immersion of idols and tajiyas that are created with thousands of rupees.

On Sunday, Dr. Anil Mehta of Jheel Sanrakshan Samiti, Tej Shanker Paliwal and Ramesh Chandra Rajput of Jheel Mitra Sansthan and Nand Kishore Sharma of Dr. Mohan Mehta Memorial Trust took the measurement of the tank; coming out to be 42ft long, 22ft wide and 5ft deep. With such figures, the lake conservators have found it to be a deception to National Green Tribunal and High Court.

The lane leading to the tank is made quite narrow and in cases if more than two groups reach at the same time, it will create mismanagement causing people to immerse idols in the lake instead. The tank size and location seems to have been making a mockery out of itself.

Lake conservators mentioned that due to leakage in sewerage pump house, the water level of lake and sewerage tank is similar which will create problem if the pump is switched on leading the lake water to go in the sewerage line. Also, questions might be raised on constructing religious place next to sewerage tank.

To effectively use the tank, lake conservators are of the opinion that subsequent immersion of idols by different groups is the solution. Also, proper time to be given prior to all groups; within a gap of half hour as after the immersion of idols by one group, the tank can be cleaned to make place for the other groups.

Prior to the discussion, the groups organized shramdaan at Hanuman Ghat from which polythene, household waste, alcohol bottles, cold drink bottles, water weed and ritual things were extracted.
