Postal department penalised for not delivering rakhi

Permanent Lok Adalat has penalised postal department for not delivering a particular post on time. The incident dates back to August 2018. Married in Ratlam, Shalini Jain of Udaipur sent Rakhi to her brother who lives in Hiranmagri Sector 4 Udaipur. The Rakhi packet has not been delivered till date.

As reported by Shalini, she sent a registered post in the name of her brother. The packet contained Rakhi since it was the festive season of Raksha Bandhan. When her brother did not receive the post, she tried to enquire about it from Ratlam post office and Shastri Circle Post office in Udaipur. Both the post offices did not provide her with a satisfactory response.

She then searched about her packet online on India Post website as per which the post had reached Shastri Circle post office in Udaipur on 16th August 2018. BUT the website did not have any details regarding the delivery status of the post. The matter was then reported to Lok Adalat who after looking into the details concluded that there has been a serious lapse on part of postal department. The Lok Adalat thence penalised the postal department with 8000 rupees which includes all the penalties to be paid within 2 months.
