Jet Airways has decided to stop complimentary meals for economy class passengers travelling on economy travel saver and classic classes. The move comes as the airline is trying to trim its costs.
The airline will bring in this change for tickets booked from December 21, for travel starting January 7. With the latest amendment, Jet Airways will NOT offer complimentary meals to passengers travelling in 4 out of 5 economy class options. It had already stopped offering complimentary meals on other 2 classes. Only passengers travelling under economy FLEX will continue getting complimentary meals. Jet Airways frequent flyers holding gold and platinum memberships will also continue getting complimentary on-board meals while complimentary services for others will be stopped.
The step has been taken to trim Jet Airways costs. The airline has been defaulting on salary payments to senior management, pilots and engineers.
