Education is a child’s basic right and school is an important part of life. Giving your child a good education can help them build the kind of future they want or desire.
A lot of kids sometimes think of not going to school, but that feeling doesn’t last for too long.
There are always some reasons hidden behind the scene that they might be facing and don’t want to go school, such as; bullying, a friend they dislike or fought with, maybe a teacher they don’t get along with, or too much class work/homework, if he/she don’t feel smart as other kids do, feeling hard to catch up with all the studies in a day or even getting bored easily.
One of the strong and common excuses of a child of not going to school is – he/she is not feeling well. For that, try to find out if it’s true or not.
How to encourage your children to go school
-Explain how important Education is- Convey the importance of education like, why do we go to school or how will it help us and the others in the future. Ask them what they want to be when they grow up, if they want to be doctor or a policeman then show them how education is important for becoming one. A/N: My son’s wish is to become a senior police officer, so I enlighten him how education will help him write daily crime reports. If he won’t know ABC, then he can’t become one. Lastly, I tell him how he can save others life too.
-Remind them that it will allow them to make new friends- Tell them how it is boring at home and they will get to do nothing with you, since you will be busy with your own work- Children can socialize with their classmates/ friends between classes, during break times and sometimes even during class when working in groups or participating in group discussions. Show them how much fun it is at school with friends.
-Help them with their schoolwork at home- If you give your child a helping hand in their daily schoolwork, this will ease their stress and work load. Take some short intervals if there is too much work load, and show them how to do the work enjoyably/ easily.
-Give them your support every time. Show them how you will support them by talking to teachers- Sometimes, our children don’t want to go to school because of either fearing the teacher or the students who bully them. Talk to them agreeably and try to find out their problem. Show them how you will take action towards the teacher or any troubling student, and there is nothing to worry about. Teach them to fight back for defense and not to fight deliberately.
-Attract them with small prizes. Best are art supplies, such as; colors, stickers, decorations, paint and stuff- If your young child is having a rough time getting out of bed to go to school in the morning it can often be helpful to bribe them with a small prize or sticker. For your older children you can offer delicious candies or a shopping trip for attendance in school.
-Choose a school with high quality teachers, who encourage students to study with lots of fun too. The school must have a peaceful environment- When teachers are excited about learning it tends to make children excited about learning. Teachers should treat the students as their own children and must be friendly with them. The school should have discipline masters who regulate the peaceful environment in school.
-Buy them new and attractive stationeries- Children love to be a centre of attraction, amongst classmates particularly. A/N: I often buy my son fancy school stationeries, which he keeps in his bag immediately after receiving it for showing his friends at school. He wakes up for school before time with excitement and tells me how he will show his friends his new stationeries.
-Make their lunch box creative and colorful with food items- Children love eating, especially those with colorful and exclusive food items, not which they eat regularly at home. Try to make it surprising and healthy for them, since they are being taught on how to share things/food at school, more likely during break times and children enjoy showing off their foods.
-Try to drop them and pick them up from school- Kids love to be dropped and picked up by their parents from school. It is special to them how parents bid them farewell at school by showing them affection with all the hugs and kisses. And when they are tired from the whole day at school, there are comforting arms waiting to welcome them and take them back home blissfully.
