Khelgaon is in a pathetic state after PM Narendra Modi’s visit last month on 29th August.
Last month, Khelgaon was visited by PM Narendra Modi. The grounds of Khelgaon were used for various purposes. The football ground was turned into a helipad. Some time back, the newly constructed track was used during Army entrance program and is now in an extremely pathetic state. Post PM’s visit, no one is bothered about getting Khelgaon back in shape.
It’s been a month but administration is not even worried that the grounds meant for sportsmen need to be repaired again. Athletic track looks more like a dumping ground. It is completely ‘out of track’ and runners are finding it difficult to practice on this damaged piece of land which used to be a running track before PM’s visit. UIT was supposed to take care of the entire program but reportedly and obviously UIT has forgotten all about Khelgaon.
Since the football ground was used to make three helipads, the football players are left with no place to practice. Everybody is still looking forward to repair work of Khelgaon. Local runner Vijay Nayak reported that since it was raining during PM’s visit, drains were made on the track for the outflow of water which are lying as is. The drains have not been covered and the track is now good for nothing.
Khelgaon doesn’t need the helipads anymore, but administration has closed its eyes on the subject. When the players complained against the condition of the track, administration started creating alibis. This is really shameful that on one hand government is encouraging sports; there on the other hand they are not even bothered about repairing the ground after using it for purposes it is not meant for.
The leaders are not concerned with what happens to the sportsmen once their purpose is solved. The condition is which Khelgaon is in today brings tears to the eyes of players who go there daily with a hope to strengthen their talent but seeing the grounds completely “torn and tattered” all hopes turn to despair.
