Nizamabad, a constituency in Telangana has 185 candidates contesting the Lok Sabha Elections on 11 April. The voting will take place through Ballot Paper mode instead of the standard Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) mode.
As per Chief Election Officer Rajat Kumar, an EVM has a capacity of 64 candidates including NOTA option. Hence in the case of Nizamabad, Ballot Paper voting is the only option available. Currently this seat belongs to K Kavitha, daughter of Chief Minister Chandrashekhar Rao.
The last date for withdrawl of names was Thursday, 28 March. Apart from the 10 candidates who are contesting the remaining 175 are turmeric (haldi) farmers, who are protesting against the current regime and have submitted their candidature for the Lok Sabha seat.
