A team of experts & availability of latest techniques could help survived a 26 years old female suffering from colloidal cyst in brain. Neemuch resident, Vimla Patidar (Age 26 years) was suffering from severe headache since many times. On consultation & investigations of CT Scan & MRI at Geetanjali Hospital it was found that a small pear shaped tumor was present deep inside the brain. This tumor is termed as colloidal cyst. A colloid cyst is a cyst containing gelatinous material in the brain. It is almost always found just posterior to the foramen of Monro in the anterior aspect of the third ventricle, originating from the roof of the ventricle thereby causing blockage. The patient was then operated with the help of endoscopy with neuro-navigation technique. “This technique has helped showing our desired route to reach tumor in safest and shortest trajectory with the help of tracker device attached to endoscope”, added Dr. Uday Bhaumik, Neuro-Surgeon.

He said that, a small incision, not more than 1 centimeter, was made to enter the endoscope in the brain. With the help of computer and tracker it was easy to reach to the tumor in no time. The tumor was removed without any affect to the brain of the patient. This technique helps the Neuro-Surgeons for instrument handling in brain which in turn assures no affect to the brain to a greater extent. With the help of this technique the patient was saved from open brain surgery which usually takes more than 8 hours whereas this technique just took 45 minutes. It also has some more of the extra benefits as no requirement of blood, open brain surgery not needed & next day discharge from hospital, no affect on brain etc. Neuro-Navigation technique is the same as GPS Tracker of our mobile. As it helps us to reach to any place as desired in the safest way same is with this technique which helped reach the tumor.

This disease has a ratio of 3: every one lac. It occurs due to genetic disorders. The removal of tumor was also very necessary as the tumor could lead to cardiac arrest of the patient anytime thereby increasing the mortality rate.
