In the ongoing state level Independence Day celebration, Udaipur witnessed another interesting event of Horse Polo today at BN Ground. The match was played between Udaipur Ashwa Shakti and Chetak Polo teams after the formal inauguration.
Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje was expected to attend the event but she could not make it due to change in her schedule.
There were three players in each teams, four out of six players were from Udaipur.
Chetak Polo team consisted of Ravi Singh Rathore, Tejveer Singh Jhadol and Om Singh Ageria while Udaipur Ashwa Shakti team had Bhawani Singh Kalvi, Himmat Singh Bedla and Veerum Singh Krishnawat.
One of the top polo players Raghavraj Singh Shivrati could not play due to health reasons.
Till second round, both team scored 3-3 goals but in the final round, Udaipur Ashwa Shakti team defeated Chetak Polo and won the match.
Himmat Singh Bedla who represented India in New Zealand last year said that there are 12 polo players in Udaipur and many are interested to learn this sport but due to lack of facilities the sport is often ignored.
Bedla said that he and all co-players from Udaipur used to play Polo during their studies in Mayo College, Ajmer.
The event was thoroughly enjoyed by the present guests and audiences.
