Stalwarts from all walks of life were honored at the 33rd Maharana Mewar Foundation Annual Award ceremony that held on Sunday at Manek Chowk, The City Palace.
Col. James Tod honor was given to Prof John D. Smith who teaches Sanskrit at Cambridge University, London, Haldighati Award to advertising company Ogilvy & Mather’s South Asia Executive Chairman and Creative Director Piyush Pandey and Hakim Kha Sur Award to advocate and social activist Vrinda Grover.
Maharana Udai Singh Award given for contribution in preservation and conservation of the environment to Padma Shree Jadav Molai Payeng alias Forest Man of the Assam and the Pannadhay Award was presented to social activist Padma Shree Anu Aga.
Chairman and Managing Trustee of the Foundation Arvind Singh Mewar welcomed all the esteemed guests and commenced the ceremony. Celebrating the age-old tradition of Guru-Shishya, the awards are an epitome to the legacy being followed for years.
At the national level, various personalities were presented the award. Maharana Mewar Award recipient were internationally acclaimed Jodhpur’s Kriti Bharti and Rajsamand’s Shyam Sunder Paliwal. Bhilwara’s Prof Om Prakash Upadhyay, Vice Chancellor of Guru Ravidas Ayurveda University, Hoshiyarpur and Pt. Ganpati Lal Sharma of Sawaimadhopur were honored with Maharshi Harit Rashi Award.
Maharana Kumbha Award was presented to Historian and Author Narayan Lal Sharmawill with Litterateur Padma Shree Dr. Chandra Prakash Deval.
Maharana Sajjan Singh Award was given to craftsman and handicraft manufacturer, Jaipur’s Kamlesh Jangid. Dagar Gharana Award recipient were Young artists’ duo Amaan Ali Khan and Ayaan Ali Khan.
Former Minister Chunni lal Garasiya received Rana Punja Award and Aravali Award was given to captain of men’s team (Kabaddi) Navneet Gautam and captain of women’s team (Kabaddi) Sumitra Sharma.
Besides these, Maharana Fateh Singh Award was conferred to 70 students for year 2013 and 2014. Bhamashah Wward was presented to 33 students and Maharana Rajsingh Award to 10 students for outstanding achievement in the field of education.
Foundation’s Trustee Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar expressed gratitude to all present dignitaries at the ceremony and felt grateful to those who contributed in making this event successful. The ceremony concluded with the National Anthem.
