A celebration of Tribal Culture and Heritage

The Rajasthan Tourism Department has officially added the 'Aadi Mahotsav' to its annual calendar. The inclusion of the Aadi Mahotsav in the Rajasthan Tourism Department's annual calendar is a significant step to promote tourism in the tribal area of Kotra. Aadi Mahotsav is a cultural festival that showcases the rich heritage, traditions, and art forms of the tribal communities residing in the region.

Former District Collector, Tarachand Meena, prepared a proposal and forwarded it to the state government. The proposal suggested including a festival that originated in the tribal area in the tourism calendar. Shikha Saxena, the Deputy Director of Tourism Department, Udaipur, stated that the event would be celebrated annually on 15 November, coinciding with Birsa Munda Jayanti. A budget of Rs 2 lakh would be allocated for the festival.

Udaipur, located 118 km away from the district headquarters of Kotra tribal area, is adjacent to Gujarat. The Aadi Mahotsav was successfully organized in Kotra in September last year. Following the event's success, the District Administration and Tourism Department initiated efforts to incorporate it into the official Tourism Department's calendar.

By adding this festival to the tourism calendar, the Rajasthan Tourism Department aims to raise awareness among tourists, both domestic and international, about the event. This increased awareness is likely to attract more tourists to Kotra, leading to a boost in tourist footfall in the tribal area. As a result, local communities and artisans will benefit directly from increased economic opportunities, as tourists actively participate and engage in the festival's activities, purchasing traditional handicrafts, artworks, and other products.

Last year, the 'Aadi Mahotsav' took place in Kotra on 27 and 28 September. The event showcased a unique amalgamation of tribal cultures in an artistic setting. The artists mesmerized everyone with their captivating dance performances accompanied by the rhythmic beats of dhol, mridang, cymbals, and ghungroos.

Today, the President of Hotel Sansthan Southern Rajasthan, Subhash Singh Ranawat, along with the Secretary, Rakesh Chaudhary, Treasurer, Ambalal Sahu, and others, extended a warm welcome to Deputy Director of Tourism Department, Shikha Saxena, at their office. The occasion marked the celebration of Aadi Mahotsav's inclusion in the tourism calendar.

Overall, the inclusion of Aadi Mahotsav in the annual tourism calendar is expected to have a positive impact on the local economy, the preservation of tribal culture, and the overall growth of tourism in the Kotra area. It will create a win-win situation for both the local communities and the tourism industry, further enhancing the appeal of Rajasthan as a vibrant and diverse travel destination.
