Poachers again active in Sariska – 3 arrested

Poachers from the nearby villages of Sariska tiger reserve are once again active.

Tiger reserve area in Sariska is under the threat of poachers once again. A few days back, police and forest department nabbed a number of poachers who had sneaked into the reserve. Now once again, three poachers have been arrested. 2 juveniles and one youth are now in police custody.

The three accused were arrested while they were present in the area where tiger movement is really high. The forest department and police department is now on toes since saving tigers is a priority and presence of poachers is posing a threat. Poachers were on a recce since two weeks. As per report received by the forest department, some people had camped near the reserve. There were 4 camps with not much people around. The arrested man said that they had been camping for two weeks and eating wild boar. According to the forest department officers, these people wanted to hunt down tigers.

Upon raiding the camps, police and forest officers recovered raw and cooked wild boar meat. Kamal Bavaria of Paninath Nangal village has been arrested from the camp. 2 minors were also arrested. ACF Rajiv Lochan Pathak said that a single barrel rifle, hair of wild boar, pieces of tortoise shell, one dagger, 2 knives and a catapult have been recovered from the camp site. Meanwhile other poachers of the camp managed to escape and are being searched by the police. Tigress ST13 was the main target of the poachers.
