Udaipur, October 16, 2024 - Traders who are doing business outside the agricultural market in Bhilwara will also have to deposit market fees and farmer welfare fees with the market committee. This was told by the Agriculture Market Deputy Director Karan Singh who visited Bhilwara yesterday, October 15, and asked traders to deposit these fees starting July.

Agriculture Market Secretary Mahipal Singh informed that from July 19, 2024, market fees and farmer welfare fees had become effective in the market yard and market area. Traders conducting business outside the market also have to deposit the fees.

Officials say many traders in the state are still not depositing the relevant fees. This has forced them to visit each market and issue notices to defaulters. They warned of action against them..

On the trade of jaggery and sugar, an exemption was given on market fees, and only farmer welfare fee is payable at 0.50 per cent. For agricultural commodities like chilies and ghee within the market area, a market fee of 1.60 per cent and a farmer welfare fee of 0.50 per cent will have to be deposited.

Traders said that they had submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma against the amendment and are awaiting a response.
