Udaipur, October 12, 2024 - High Court Judge Dinesh Mehta has dismissed the petition challenging the land acquisition process in the Fatehpura intersection bottleneck case. Ashok Kumar and 16 other affected shopkeepers had filed the petition, which also involved the Urban Development Department along with the Udaipur Development Authority.

Last year the Urban Improvement Trust (UIT) had started work in three phases for removing the bottleneck at one end of the intersection and acquired 8,500 square feet of land through the mediation of the district administration. The road coming from Pula (Bhuwana) towards Fatehpura had been widened opening up a distance of about 100 feet from the intersection.

The High Court stated that appropriate action regarding the compensation amount will be completed within one month under the conditions of the Land Acquisition Act. The competent authority will make a decision on this matter. Most of the shops in question are on rent and the tenants are raising an objection even though the landlord is in agreement for the takeover.

Udaipur District Collector Arvind Poswal has played a significant role in this matter. Notices were issued to both the plot owner and the shopkeepers.
