Did you know: Udaipur has a Tourism Police Station

Not many of us may be aware that city of lakes has a special police station dedicated to protect tourists from nuisance caused by touts, auto-rickshaw driver, cab drivers, hawkers etc.

Tourism Police Station is located on Pichola Road near Tibetan Market. The Police Station is open 24 hours and works primarily to serve the complaints under Rajasthan Tourism Trade (Facilitation and Regulation) Act, 2010. This act provides protection to tourists against nuisance caused by touts (brokers/lapkas), auto-rickshaw drivers, beggars cab drivers, hawkers, shopkeepers etc.

Tourists can lodge complaint against such trouble makers who unnecessarily harass them into buying products/services and following them without their consent. The Police station however does not cater to common complaints like thefts etc. For these, tourists will have to report to the regular Police Station under whose area the incident has occurred.

Interestingly, Tourism Police Station in Udaipur was the first such police station dedicated to Tourists in Rajasthan. Now there are two more such police stations in Jaipur and Jodhpur also.
