A new trend is swiftly taking shape in the realm of cycling among Udaipur’s city dwellers - the surge in popularity of e-bikes. This trend can be attributed to the considerable advantages they offer in terms of cost and maintenance. As of the latest statistics, an estimated 20 e-bikes are being sold in the city each month, signifying a notable shift in transportation preferences. However, it is worth noting that the demand for e-bikes remains highest in metropolitan areas. E-bikes do not require registration or a licence for operation.

The appeal of e-bikes is undoubtedly linked to their affordability compared to conventional bicycles, as well as their lower maintenance costs. With e-bikes available in the local market at prices ranging from Rs. 27,000 to 50,000 rupees, they have become an attractive and accessible option for urban residents seeking an eco-friendly and efficient mode of transportation. Furthermore, e-bikes not only offer an eco-conscious way to commute but also provide an effortless and enjoyable riding experience. The added electric motor assistance eases the physical exertion associated with cycling, making it an attractive option for people of all fitness levels and ages.

Nitesh Tank, the showroom manager, has noted a significant rise in the popularity of e-bikes this year. These electric bikes are primarily being acquired for two specific age groups: children and the elderly. Customers are now making purchases based on practical needs rather than solely for fitness purposes. It is anticipated that the demand for e-bikes will continue to grow in the future.

E-bike companies now provide a battery warranty of up to two years. These batteries can be fully charged within two hours and consume just one unit of electricity, allowing them to run for distances ranging from 30 to 50 kms.
